Anything's achievable with RunBelievable!
We're back at Ashdown, this time in the spring!
We've been incredibly lucky to have been given permission to run an event at Ashown Forest amongst the actual locations that inspired Christopher Robin & AA Milne to write the famous loveable bear books. In 2021 we will be holding the Kanga-Roo Kanter on Saturday the 15th May and Eeyore Expedition on Sunday the 16th of May. For those of you wishing to join us for both days, there will be a small discount taking the combined price to £75.
(If you wish you can also choose one of the medals (subject to availability) from previous events!)
.
Christopher Milne wrote in his autobiography: "Pooh's forest and Ashdown Forest are identical". So you too can see The North Pole, run under the eaves of 100 Aker Wood, be sad in Eeyore’s Gloomy Place, try to spot the elusive creatures at the Heffalump Trap, run through The Enchanted Place, count the trees on Gill's Lap, and play in Roo's Sandy Pit.
The event will have a six hour time limit for you to run as many, or as few laps as you wish. With a timed event, as long as you complete one lap, then you are an official finisher!
Although hopefully this may change, due to current Covid regulations runners can start from 8.30AM, to aid the rule of 6.
We're going to be flexible with deciding the route! Mainly as it will depend on the conditions on the day. But the A plan is a 5.26 mile route (see course details in the FAQ below) and will be 99% trail. It will be well marked so don't worry about navigation but if in doubt follow the people in front of you!
Unfortunately again due to Covid we are unable to have an aid station, instead you'll be handed a well stocked goody bag before you start which is intended to replace this.
You'll receive your medal at the end in its plastic bag.
Please see our Covid Rules statement for any other changes that may happen on the day

Course details
The courses are all based in Ashdown Forest. (Map)
We have several variants for each course but we may adjust slightly on the day to account for the conditions, especially if its been subject to heavy rain or by request of the rangers.
This route is fairly challenging trail with approximately 400' of gain per 5.25 mile lap, so will be about 2000' for a marathon type distance run. The reward is some lovely views across the countryside and some nice downhill parts!
View the route here on MapMyRun
The loop is 5.24 miles long, five laps will make up a marathon and six laps is almost spot on 50k for those wishing to push themselves to a short ultra. This event will have a six hour time limit.
Are there time limits?
Yes, six hours to run as many laps as you can. As long as you are on your final lap before 5 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds then you are good for one more.
Any runner completing 26.2 miles or more will have completed marathon distance and will count as a marathon finish for the purposes of the 100 Marathon Club, if you complete over 27 miles then you've completed an ultra. As long as you finish one lap then you'll receive an official finish time, medal and chocolate. With timed events there are no DNFs.
Do I have to run for the whole time?
No! You can stop at any time you wish, just as long as you complete one lap you are an official finisher.
Do you have secure baggage facilities
If you drive we will ask you to use your own car as your own personal bag drop. For those who haven't got access to a car, there will be a small bag drop area especially for you. Although it will be close by, these items will be left at their own risk.
Is the course closed to the public?
No. We are using Ashdown Forest which is shared with ramblers, dogwalkers, and cyclists and the occasional Horserider. Runners do not have the right of way and need to be considerate of other users of the land. Please don't litter, we'll have a bin at the base camp.
What on course facilities do you provide?
We can provide water and squash out of jugs, any other goodies will already be in your goody bag.
Are there any facilities at the start/finish area?
There will be portable toilets.
Can I use an ipod or mp3 player on the course?
Yes. Though please be aware that you are running on public footpaths with the general public so make sure that you pay attention to cyclists, people, dogs, horse riders, wildlife and so on.
