The apocalypse just got beefy 🐄💀
Welcome to one of the most unhinged challenge event we've thought of!. On Halloween, Deep in Samphire Hell, the herd has turned… and they’re hungry.
You’ve got 8 hours to run, survive, and rack up as many laps as your legs (and nerves) can handle. Expect good quality concrete and gravel paths, and the constant threat of zombie cows lurking when you least expect it *
Go solo or bring your herd—but remember: in Samphire Hell, it’s not just about distance… it’s about survival.
*Disclaimer - there are real cows at Samphire, whether they are zombiefied or not please respect them and their sheep and goat friends that may also be there.
Course details
The course is mainly good quality concrete and gravel paths with a couple of small wooden bridges! Plan A will be a 3.28 mile course. This as always at Samphire is subject to weather but we have back up routes so do not fear.

What do I get?
You will receive,
1) A really special finishers medal, custom made and designed, not a generic one.
2) A goody bag.
3) A well stocked base camp with plenty of nibbles and refreshments for during and post race replenishment.
Where do I park?
We have been allocated the parking area marked Runbelieveable parking. If this area becomes full then please park in the overflow parking area as Samphire like to save the parking off map below base camp for the general public.
When do I get my race number?
You'll pick this up on race day morning from the race base camp.
Are there time limits?
Yes, 8 hours hard cut off.
How are laps counted?
Depending on numbers we will either manually count laps or we'll dish out lap counting cards. Attach this to yourself with a safety pin or cable tie. At the end of each loop get this punched through by one of the hole puncher people. So basically at the end of each lap, get your card punched.
Do you have secure baggage facilities
No. But you're free to leave bags at the start/finish visitors centre. There will always be someone around but we can't guarantee their security, in the event of rain we can't guarantee things won't get wet.
Can I leave my own drinks/food at the Base camp?
Yes no problem at all, however we encourage you to leave these at your bag or car to save space at the aid station.
Trail shoes? Road Shoes?
I would say 99% road. The paths are mainly concrete or stony paths with the only real exception being a couple of very short bridges that can get a little slippy in the rain.
Is the course closed to the public?
No. Samphire Hoe is a public nature reserve so there are likely to be walkers, dog walkers and most likely fishermen along the seawall section so please be courteous to other visitors. There are bins around the site so please either use these or bring any rubbish you may have back to base camp.
What on course facilities do you provide?
Water, squash, nibbles, starter, timekeeper and encouragement every lap! Base station will be well stocked for all runners.
Are there any facilities at the start/finish area?
There are toilets at the start/finish area open from 7am until finish. Samphire also has a small cafe(usually open from around 10am), however we can't promise this will be open.
Can I use an ipod or mp3 player on the course?
Yes. Though please be aware that you are running on public footpaths with the general public so make sure that you pay attention to cyclists, people, children on bikes, wildlife and so on.
Could a supporter meet me at Samphire?
Absolutely, its well worth a visit however be aware the parking is limited so they may have to park off site. Also bear in mind it is not possible to enter the site after 7pm.
