We are absolutely delighted to announce that we are running our first 100 mile endurance event. The guys at Manston Airport have given us permission to hold the worlds first 100 mile running event at an airport in which you will be running trail and road - we have been cleared for take off!
This will be your chance to earn a bespoke buckle and an epic shirt designed by the fabulous Claire Foley. This 100 mile event will not only be your chance to be one of the first to complete 100 miles at an airport but also due to the very small amount of elevation a great course for those attempting their first 100 miler and also potential for some cracking times.
As part of what will be a truly unique weekend of running, will we also be offering a 24 hour challenge event and a pacer entry, please see below for more details.
Time to get ready for flying feet and join us in which is sure to be a unique running adventure. Ever fancied running down an airport runway? Wondered what it would be like to have an aid station in a control tower? Ponder no more as we bring you our second event(s) at Manston Airport.
Manston Airport has one of the longest runways in the UK and is steeped in history dating back to WW1.
Course details
The course will start on a trail path around the perimeter of the airport before turning onto the 2752 metre runway then just under 1 mile back to base camp. Each loop is approx 6.67 miles meaning to secure your finishers Buckle you will need to record 15 laps.
100 Mile Endurance Event
For every finisher that completes the full 100 miles you will get an epic Buckle, finishers shirt and goody bag! Sub 24hr 100 mile finishers will receive a Gold Buckle over 24hrs and you'll get a Silver Buckle.
We appreciate that the reality of 100 milers is that sadly not everyone finishes, but do not fear if you decide to call your run early we will record however many full laps you have completed and you will receive the challenge medal instead.
24 Hour Challenge Event
Pacer Entry 6pm
Want to be part of the fun, but unable to commit to the 100? You will have the chance to enter our pacer challenge. This starts at 6pm and will enable you to run alongside our 100 mile runners and support them through the night time, when they need you the most. You can decide what time to start, but your race clock will start from 6pm. The pacer Entry is exactly as it reads it is support for the 100 mile runners it is not a challenge event where you just show up and do your own thing (if this is what you are after then see the 24hr challenge). You could potentially run for 22 hours as a pacer until the cut off at 4pm on Sunday. Again, you will be rewarded with an amazing medal, no matter how far you run.
We will have a medical team in attendance in attendance for the whole event.
